NAC to manage Maine Yankee fuel and waste

30 March 2001

Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company has awarded NAC a contract to manage fuel and high-level waste transfer operations from the power station spent fuel pool to an on-site dry storage location. NAC will conduct all transfer operations including spent fuel handling, dry cask transfer activities and canister seal welding, as well as transporting the vertical concrete casks to the on-site independent spent fuel storage installation (ISFSI). In co-ordination with Framatome ANP, NAC will also load and transfer “greater-than-class-C” (GTCC) waste to the ISFSI.
