MHI wins pump orders in Korea

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), has signed a ten-year agreement with Hyundai Heavy Industries in order to provide Korea with pumps for the four units that are planned at Shin-Kori and for units 1 and 2 that are planned at Shin-Wolsong. The pumps to be covered under the agreement include auxiliary feedwater pump, cooling water pump, spent fuel cooling water pump, essential chilled water pump, component cooling water makeup pump, drain pump and boric acid makeup pump.

The agreement marks the first time that MHI has been contracted to provide Korea with nuclear plant equipment, although the company has delivered auxiliary feedwater pumps, charging pumps and reactor coolant pumps to Qinshan in China throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
