MHI sees nuclear info leaked to Internet

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has seen internal information, including inspection results for three nuclear plants, broadcast to the Internet.

The inspection information, which was leaked between April and May this year, included details of turbines and other equipment on three nuclear power plants owned by Hokkaido, Kansai and Kyushu Electric.

The information came from the virus infected computer of an employee of subcontracting firm that handled the inspections. The information was sent via the file-sharing program Winny.

MHI insists that no security information relating to reactors or nuclear material was leaked. It has now forbidden the use of personal computers for company purposes.
