Mechanical fuel detector maintenance, European Union (Deadline: 16 September 2011)

8 August 2011

To discharge of its responsibilities under Chapter VII of the Euratom Treaty, the European Commission uses measurement equipment to verify nuclear fuel under water as part of its inspection activities. Specific instruments devised for that purpose are the so-called fork detectors (for spent fuel) and similar underwater coincidence counter (UWCC) detectors (for fresh MOX fuel). The Commission inspectors use fork and UWCC detector systems in nuclear installations across the European Union. In order to implement and assure the continued reliable operation of the instruments, it is intended to establish a framework service contract for the maintenance of these detectors.
