Mangyshlak to be taken over

1 February 2003

Kazatomprom is expected to take over the bankrupt Mangyshlak nuclear complex. Any potential buyer must have a licence to operate nuclear power facilities and only KATEP, the National Nuclear Centre (NNC) and Kazatomprom would qualify. Kazatomprom is seen as the most likely buyer.

The Mangyshlak complex will be sold as a single lot, and its minimum price must be no lower than the overall administrative costs and creditors' claims.
