LES wants more time

3 July 2003

Louisiana Energy Services (LES) wants several years to determine a plan for waste disposal at its proposed centrifuge enrichment plant in Trousdale County, Tennessee. However, officials responsible for zoning and selling the plant property reportedly want details of a specific disposal plan before they will take further action. LES claims that this would deny it the necessary flexibility to consider new technologies, and would like to set multi-year limits for waste storage at the site.

Residents in Trousdale County are evenly divided between supporting and opposing the centrifuge enrichment plant, according to a public opinion survey commissioned by LES.
