3 April 2002

Applied Photonics, a UK-based manufacturer of laser measurement systems, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with BNFL Instruments, based in Santa Fe in New Mexico for the supply of nuclear detection and measurement equipment to the American markets.

Under the terms of the agreement, BNFL Instruments will exclusively represent Applied Photonics products and capabilities in the USA, Canada and South America. In these regions, BNFL Instruments and Applied Photonics will also work in partnership to pursue specific applications and opportunities.

Over the coming months, staff from BNFL Instruments will visit the UK head office of Applied Photonics for training and technical product development. At the same time, staff from Applied Photonics will travel to Santa Fe as part of the ongoing strategic agreement.

Tony Barlow, executive vice president and general manager of Applied Photonics, said: "We are extremely pleased to link up with BNFL Instruments, who has been aware of our services for some time, especially the laser induced breakdown spectroscopy."
