Krsko not a problem

30 November 1999

The 664 MWe PWR at Krsko is unlikely to affect Slovenia’s progress towards European Union membership.

“Krsko is a modern enough plant and uses Western technology. I do not think it will be a problem,” said Jaime Garcia Lombardero, the EU’s chief negotiator for Slovenia. Lombardero’s comments come despite Austrian objections. Slovenia began negotiations for EU membership last year and hopes to join by 2003.
