The World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) has elected Jacques Regaldo, formerly Operating Senior Vice-President of the Generation and Engineering Division at EDF Group, as Chairman of the Board. The appointment was made at the organisation’s Board meeting in Tokyo, Japan on 31 October 2012.
Jacques Regaldo will replace Laurent Stricker on 1 March 2013. Mr Stricker was elected Chairman in January 2009 and re-elected for a second term in July 2010.
Regaldo said: “I am honoured to have been elected Chairman of the World Association of Nuclear Operators. The nuclear industry has come a long way since Fukushima, but we must never lose focus of our mission to maximise the safety and reliability of nuclear power plants worldwide.”
He said one of his first priorities would be implementing the decisions taken at WANO’s 2011 BGM in Shenzhen.
