Jacobs wins fusion design deal

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc has won design a contract as part of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) facility, to be built at Cadarache, near Aix-en-Provence in France.

A Jacobs subsidiary company received the contract to deliver design services to the European Commission through the European Fusion Development Agreement (EFDA) and will perform civil and structural engineering as well as general plant design.

Work on the new €4.26 billion facility is planned to begin in the first half of 2007 with completion scheduled for 2015.
