12 July 2022

Russia’s Kursk NPP has said that Titan-2 has begun installing the roof of the turbine building at unit 2 of the Kursk-II NPP.

The first section of the metal structure of the roofing has now been placed in the design position. The roof truss block weighing 143 tons is 60 metres long and 13 metres wide. It was mounted using a Liebherr LR 11350 heavy crawler crane.

Installation of truss blocks is carried out in several stages. First, the block is enlarged on a specially equipped site making it possible to assemble a block farm and ensuring the correct design geometry. The enlarged truss blocks then undergo quality control and assessment to ensure conformity with specifications, after which they are installed in position.

The roofing work is scheduled to be completed by September.
