JSC Rusatom Automated Control Systems (RASU), a subsidiary of Russian State Corporation Rosatom is to be the primary supplier of the automated process control and monitoring system for Rooppur 1&2 in Bangladesh under a $500m deal reported on 13 November.

RASU offers integrated solutions for design, development, commissioning, maintenance and upgrade of I&C on nuclear and other industrial facilities.

The agreement covers both the development and supply of a complex of ASU TP automatic systems and the provision of services for supervision of the equipment supplied. The production and delivery of the equipment are planned for 2019-2021.

The Rooppur nuclear power plant will include two 1200MWe Generation 3+ VVER reactors. A foundation stone was laid at the site in October 2013 after Russia and Bangladesh signed an initial contract on the construction of the plant. A construction licence for Rooppur 1 was received earlier in November.
