IAEA warns Iran as governors meet

8 March 2006

IAEA director general Mohamed ElBaradei warned Iran that the issue of research and development in Iran is “very much divisive.”

“I would hope again that at this stage that Iran would again freeze their R&D until a solution is found,” ElBaradei added, saying that confrontation could be counterproductive.

ElBaradei went on to say that there is universal recognition that this is an issue of serious implication to international peace and security with the whole Middle East security “very much at stake.”

However, while the nuclear row rumbles on the Iranian parliament has approved a further $212 million to be spent on completing its Bushehr nuclear plant.
