Framatome to provide engineering services to UK nuclear fleet

Heysham nuclear power plant in the UK (Photo: EDF Energy)French company Framatome has signed a framework agreement with EDF in the UK to provide engineering services to support ongoing nuclear power plant operations.

For the first time in the UK, Framatome will provide dedicated, in-house nuclear engineering services to support the continued operation of eight nuclear stations including 14 advanced gas reactors and one pressurised water reactor.

Framatome will provide in-house services for the full range of engineering responsibilities focused on design, analysis, calculations, documentation and modifications. This will include support related to:
regulations and licensing; systems, civil speciality, electrical, mechanical, safety and risk-informed engineering; component analysis and fracture mechanics; and instrumentation and control.

EDF in the UK operates a fleet of eight nuclear power stations: Sizewell B, Hinkley Point B, Dungeness B, Hartlepool, Heysham 1 and 2, Hunterston, and Torness.
