Framatome ANP has expanded its refuelling services capabilities in the USA with two recent contracts.
Last month, Florida Power & Light (FPL) signed an agreement with Framatome ANP for the supply of outage services for the Turkey Point and St Lucie plants. The outage services alliance covers 14 outages (beginning in 2003) over the next five years. Framatome ANP, along with Master/ Lee, will help FPL reduce outage durations and costs. FPL is already one of the lowest cost nuclear producers in the USA. The expected work includes a variety of outage services such as reactor disassembly/reassembly, fuel movement, and reactor coolant pump and motor maintenance and steam generator services.
Also last month, Framatome ANP signed an agreement to purchase the assets of Washington Group International's Equipment and Services (E&S) division.
E&S, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, specialises in fuel handling machines and transfer systems for both PWR and BWR plants. E&S is the original equipment manufacturer of nuclear fuel handling systems for 60% of operating nuclear plants in the USA, and for 21 plants outside the USA. The group also provides technical support services for refuelling outages, replacement parts and equipment modifications.
