Framatome and Arrakis develop electromagnetic filter

29 October 1998

Framatome Technologies and Colorado based company Arrakis have developed an electromagnetic filter (EMF) designed to remove paramagnetic materials such as plutonium and uranium from soils, liquids and slurries. Soil slurry passes through the EMF once only. Framatome first developed the technology to remove suspended solids such as magnetite and copper from water streams at nuclear power plants.
