Forsmark restart approved

13 October 2006

Swedish nuclear regulator the SKI is to permit the restart of Forsmark units 1 and 2, but has imposed an intensive supervision regime at the plant and requires further actions be taken by the management to improve the safety culture.

SKI has reviewed and approved the necessary technical modifications made at the plant and is also imposing several requirements in connection with the restart of the reactors.

SKI requires that Forsmark submit an implementation plan to show how they will strengthen the staff’s ability to assess and take measures when a reactor behaves in an unexpected manner and improve routines and processes in connection with changes to the plant, among other measures.
