Flowserve wins Taishan valve orders

Flowserve Corporation has won a multimillion-dollar order from China Nuclear Power Engineering Co. for main steam isolation valves (MSIVs), main feedwater isolation valves (MFIVs) and feedwater motor-operated valves for China’s Taishan 1&2.

The order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2009. The valves were purchased for use at Taishan 1&2, Chinese EPR (CEPR) reactors that are currently under construction in Guangdong Province, and scheduled for commercial operation in 2013 and 2014.

Flowserve main steam isolation valves (MSIVs) and main feedwater isolation valves (MFIVs) are designed to play an important role in emergency nuclear power plant shutdowns by preventing the blowdown of the steam generators and maintaining their capability to remove heat from the reactor primary loop and the reactor core.

Flowserve has previously announced valve orders from Westinghouse, for AP1000 units under construction in China.

Valve orders for Sanmen 1 and Haiyang 1 were booked in the fourth quarter of 2008 and the first quarter of 2009. In the first quarter of 2010 Flowserve received a $15 million order for safety-related globe and gate valves and its Limitorque actuators for Sanmen 2 and Haiyang 2.
