FERC approves Duane Arnold sale

26 October 2005

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved the purchase of a 70% stake in Duane Arnold from Alliant Energy by FPL.

The move brings the sale of the single BWR announced in July significantly closer.

Duane Arnold is located near Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and is jointly owned by Alliant Energy, Central Iowa Power Cooperative and Corn Belt Power Cooperative. The 580MWe reactor began commercial operation in June 1974 and is expected to change hands for around $380 million.
