Fangjiashan 1 goes critical

Fangjiashan 1 has reached criticality, according to operator China National Nuclear Corp (CNNC).

The 1080 MWe CPR-1000 reactor is the first of two under construction at the Zheijiang province site south of Shanghai, almost adjacent to the Qinshan site of seven reactors, five PWRs and two PHWRs.

First criticality date is listed as 21 October 2014 on IAEA's Power Reactor Information System service. Construction began on 26 December 2008.
