Environmental safety case, UK (Deadline: 21 January 2011)

Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL) is intending to build below surface vaults for the storage of Low Level Waste (LLW) that arise from the ongoing decommissioning operations on the Dounreay Site. In order to operate the vaults, DSRL will require a Radioactive Substance Act (RSA) Authorisation prior to the emplacement of any LLW. DSRL is progressing this authorisation by means of an Environmental Safety Case and other supporting documentation and the services of a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor is required to support DSRL in the development and production of an Environmental Safety Case that is submitted to the Regulator to obtain the RSA Authorisation.

The chosen Contractor will be required to work in a collaborative environment with DSRL and other Contractors.

The following activities are included in the scope of the services, but not limited to:

Updates to the following: Site conceptual model for water flows, geochemistry, geotechnical; Performance assessment model; Monitoring plan.

Site characterisation plans;

Input into design optimisation and compliance with regards to the content of the 2010 Environmental Safety Case;

In conjunction with the DSRL Project Team, engage in dialogue with SEPA and assistance in responding to issues that SEPA raise;

Production of the 2013 Environmental Safety Case and incorporation of any peer review comments.

The Contractor's personnel will be required to undertake the services from their home offices, at the Dounreay Site or at other Contractor's Premises during the duration of the contract.
