Enusa, Tecnatom to supply fuel inspection system to China

24 February 2015

Enusa and Tecnatom have reached agreement to supply a new fuel inspection system to CNNC Jianzhong Nuclear for its nuclear fuel fabrication factory in Yibin, Sichuan province, China.

Spain-based Tecnatom says the equipment will be capable of detecting defects on the surface of the fuel rods manufactured at the facility, using eddy current techniques.

The project combines the wide experience demonstrated by Tecnatom through multiple applications, with the know-how acquired by Enusa through the operation of its Juzbado fuel manufacturing facility.

Tecnatom said that the order forms part of a 'series of international activities' that Enusa and Tecnatom reinforced last autumn with the signing of a number of equipment development and supply agreements in the field of nuclear fuel manufacturing.
