Eletronuclear to replace rotor at Angra 2

2 March 2005

Brazilian nuclear operator Eletrobras Nuclear (Eletronuclear) plans to replace the generator rotor at its Angra 2 plant, after it detected a fault in the water refrigeration system.

Eletronuclear's maintenance team was unable to repair equipment that was producing too much humidity prompting the decision. Angra 1 and 2 are located in the eastern state of Rio de Janeiro.
