EC draws up risk list

5 July 2008

The European Commission (EC) has been drafting an inventory of public services, plans and regulations for dealing with nuclear, radiological, chemical and biological risks to public health within Europe.

EC officials presented a report on this work to a recent European Union Council of Ministers meeting. The resources covered include member states’ police forces, nuclear protection agencies, militaries and research teams. “The inventory will enable the council to take stock of the EU's capabilities for coping with [these] threats and risks,” said the council.
