E1 billion of fuel

1 February 2003

Electricité de France (EdF) and Framatome ANP have signed a contract worth around E1 billion for the supply of enriched natural uranium, reprocessed uranium and mixed plutonium and uranium oxides (MOX) fuel assemblies.

The contract, signed in December 2002, covers a significant share of the requirements of French reactors over the next few years. Framatome ANP president and CEO Vincent Maurel said: "This new contract shows Framatome ANP's ability to consolidate its leading position despite competition due to the gradual opening up of the fuel market by EdF."
