Dirk Beeuwsaert has succeeded Jean-Pierre Hansen as chief executive officer of Electrabel. The Electrabel Board appointed Beeuwsaert as Hansen’s successor on Wednesday 7 April.

The Board expressed its sincerest thanks to Jean-Pierre Hansen for the dedication that he has demonstrated towards the company and its staff since 1991.

Hansen remains director of Electrabel, as well as member of the Executive Committee of GDF SUEZ and President of the Energy Policy Committee of the Group. He will continue the discussions with the Belgian government in order to finalize the programme contract, mainly including the lifetime extension of the nuclear power stations in Belgium.

Since March 2009, Beeuwsaert, the new CEO of Electrabel, has been executive vice-president of GDF SUEZ in charge of the Energy Europe & International business line.
