Russia’s Specialised Scientific Research Institute for Instrumentation Engineering (JSC SNIIP), part of state nuclear corporation Rosatom's engineering subsidiary Atomenergomash, has signed a contract for the manufacture of equipment, software and hardware for the monitoring, control and diagnostics system of India’s Kudankulam 3&4 in Tamil Nadu.

In 2019 and 2021, SNIIP will also supply the sub-systems of the automated process control system.

First concrete for the two Russian-built VVER-1000 reactors took place in June. Kudankulam units 1 and 2 (also VVER-1000 reactors) entered commercial operation in December 2014 and April 2017.
