Containment vessel top head installed at Haiyang 1

The containment vessel top head (CVTH) for the nuclear island has been installed at the Haiyang unit 1 AP1000 reactor in China.

Placement of the 659-ton CVTH was completed at 9:36 a.m. China Time on 29 March 2013, Westinghouse said in a statement.

The CVTH was manufactured by Shandong Nuclear Power Equipment Manufacturing Company Ltd. in China's Shandong province.

Haiyang 1 is one of four Westinghouse AP1000 reactors currently being built in China. The plant is being constructed by Westinghouse Electric Company and its consortium team member CB&I, along with Chinese customers State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation Ltd. and Shandong Nuclear Power Company Ltd.
