Constellation to help Point Beach obtain licence renewal

30 April 2001

The Nuclear Management Company, which operates Point Beach on behalf of Wisconsin Electric Power, has selected Constellation Nuclear Services of Baltimore, Maryland, to provide engineering services for licence renewal work for the station’s two PWRs.

Constellation Nuclear Services will work with Point Beach project personnel to prepare an integrated plant assessment of electrical, mechanical, and civil structural systems and components, and assist in preparation of a licence renewal application to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months. Constellation Nuclear Services is a unit of the Constellation Energy Group, which owns the two-unit Calvert Cliffs nuclear station in Maryland. Calvert Cliffs was the first US nuclear plant to receive a 20-year licence extension.
