Clearance for fuel

The US government has given its consent for a return shipment of MOX fuel from Japan to the UK. A USA-Japan agreement concerning the peaceful uses of nuclear energy requires US consent for the shipment. The eight assemblies are being returned to BNFL as part of a commitment made by BNFL to Kansai Electric Power following the data falsification debacle in 1999.
