China to build first inland nuclear

China is planning to develop a nuclear plant in the central Hunan Province, state media reports.

The 4 GW plant will be developed in two phases and located in Lishanhe Town, in Taojiang County of Yiyang City.

China National Nuclear Corp, together with China Three Gorges Project Corp, China Resources Co and Hunan Xiangtou Holdings Group are to develop the joint-venture company Hunan Taohua River Nuclear Power Co to operate the project, expected to the first nuclear power plant built in China's inland areas. Previous nuclear installations have all been in coastal regions.
