B&W signs support services agreement with Bruce Power

1 December 2014

B&W Canada is to provide support services to Canadian nuclear power plant operator Bruce Power under a new agreement worth $300 million (US$263m).

The contract, which includes engineering, tooling development, skilled trades training and site work execution, will allow B&W Canada to continue to be a major employer within the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge Region, Bruce Power said.

Work will begin in January 2015, and is expected to continue into 2020. There is potential for the contract to be extended as Bruce Power continues with plans to increase the operating lives of its units in accordance with Ontario's Long-Term Energy Plan, the operator said.

B&W has been a supplier to Bruce Power since 1977 when it supplied the first steam generators for the site.
