Building firm eyes nuclear

1 February 2003

In response to "emerging opportunities for nuclear", Kansas-based construction company Black & Veatch has launched a stand-alone nuclear group. The group will focus on services for existing plants and design/build opportunities for new plants.

Steve Rus, director of the nuclear group, said: "As one of only a handful of companies currently involved with the design and construction of a nuclear plant, we are in a position to take advantage of this resurging market." Black & Veatch is currently providing significant portions of the nuclear island design and equipment supply as well as the information/configuration management systems for the Lungmen plant in Taiwan.
