Brazil’s Eletronuclear and EDF renew co-operation agreement

?Brazilian nuclear utility Eletronuclear, a subsidiary of Eletrobras has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Électricité de France (EDF) with the aim of promoting mutual cooperation in the development of nuclear energy projects.

The MOU, valid for five years (extendable for a further five years), renews a previous cooperation agreement, signed in 2018 in Research and Development, but with an expanded scope, including emerging technologies such as small modular reactors (SMRs), hydrogen generation and innovation management practices.

The partnership cover areas such as operation and maintenance of nuclear power plants, management of ageing materials, information security and public acceptance of nuclear energy. The work will be carried out through the exchange of data or technical and economic experiences, visits, working groups, workshops, seminars and training sessions of common interest between the parties.
