Borssele closure delay

The shutdown of the only operating nuclear plant in The Netherlands has been postponed, pending the outcome of court hearings.

Electricity generator EPZ, which owns the 481MWe reactor, is contesting it reached an agreement in 1994 with the government to close the plant. EPZ says it has permission to keep the plant open for an indefinite period. Under the contested deal the plant was to be closed in January 2004.
