Arrival of Arreva

28 September 2001

France’s nuclear power and new technology interests, briefly known as Topco when first formed, have been relaunched as the Areva group. Areva leads the country’s restructured nuclear industry (see NEI August 2001, p2) and comprises the activities of Cogema, Framatome, an 11% stake in chipmaker STMicroelectronics and Framatome’s new technology unit Framatome Connectors International. It is the largest nuclear power company in the world and is expected to generate annual sales of $9 billion.
