AREVA has won a major contract to support French utility EDF in the maintenance and operation of eight reactors at the Chinon, Nogent, and Belleville nuclear power plants.

The five-year contract covers the provision of comprehensive site support services, including the coordination and performance of facility maintenance, handling, and lifting operations. There is also an option for a two-year extension.

The services and solutions agreement will create over 200 jobs, and involve more than 400 group employees, AREVA said.

The award demonstrates the group's ability to offer "integrated and innovative solutions," said Dominique Mockly, senior executive vice-president of AREVA's Back End business group.
