Areva wins contract for Paks I&C update

21 May 2017

France’s Areva NP will update the reactor protection system at all four units of Hungary’s Paks NPP together with its Hungarian consortium partner Evopro Systems Engineering Kft.

The contract includes a comprehensive software update of the existing digital safety instrumentation & control (I&C) system that Areva NP had implemented as a replacement between 1999 and 2002. The current agreement covers all activities from planning to on-site testing and also comprises the modernisation of maintenance and test equipment.

The project is to be completed in 2019.

“This contract proves that Areva NP’s Teleperm XS platform supports long-term operation, enhances plant safety and availability and protects investments in the long run. The update project at Paks will ease future maintainability and contributes to the intended life time extension at the site”, said Martin Winkler, Vice President Marketing & Sales at Areva NP’s I&C Business Unit. Areva NP has implemented safety I&C systems in more than 80 plants in 17 countries.
