AREVA signs up for STAR-CCM+ simulation software

8 November 2012

Software firm CD-adapco has signed a multi-year agreement with the global nuclear supplier, AREVA, for the deployment of STAR-CCM+ engineering simulation software. STAR-CCM+, described as 'more than just a CFD solver' on the vendor's website, is able to tackle problems involving multi-physics and complex geometries

Nicolas Goreaud, Head of the AREVA Reactor computational fluid dynamics simulation team in Lyon said, "CFD technologies play a fundamental role in the design and development of nuclear reactor. The ability to simulate the behavior and performance of our designs quickly and accurately is key for safety and improved durability of reactor design.

"We are pleased to continue our relationship with CD-adapco, an acknowledged leader in this field, as we work towards our next generation designs."

The agreement has been set-up to enable all AREVA engineering sites worldwide to get access to CD-adapco technologies, the company said.
