AMEC acquires US-based nuclear services company

4 November 2013

The international engineering and project management company, AMEC, has agreed to acquire US-based Automated Engineering Services Corp. (AES) for a cash consideration of $29 million. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of November 2013.

AES provides plant design/modification engineering, engineering analysis, safety, licensing and regulatory services, and engineering programme support to existing nuclear utilities, primarily in the US. The firm has staff of 175 and annual revenues in excess of $30 million.

AMEC said that the acquisition builds on its strong positioning in the US nuclear market.
"Consistent with AMEC's strategy, this acquisition builds on our nuclear position in the US, allows us to better serve our clients and provides a solid platform from which to achieve further growth, said Tim Gelbar, President of AMEC's Power & Process business in the Americas."

The combined US nuclear business will operate under the name AMEC AES.
