US nuclear plants generated a record total of 767.3TWh of electricity in 2001, which is up from 754TWh in 2000, according to the Nuclear Energy Institute.

The increase represents the equivalent of adding two large nuclear power plants. The average load factor of US plants in 2001 was 90.7%. Nuclear electricity production increased by 138.7TWh between 1997 and 2001.
