15.3% extra at Duane Arnold

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has approved a request by the Nuclear Management Company to increase the generating capacity of the Duane Arnold nuclear power plant by about 15.3%, or 80MWe. The uprate at the plant will increase the capacity of the reactor to about 600MWe. The facility intends to implement the power increase immediately. The application for the increase in power was submitted to the NRC in November 2000.
